Description

The M35A1 is a 2½ ton 6×6 cargo truck initially used by the United States Army. Nicknamed “Deuce and a Half” from the older World War II CCKW truck, the M35 saw service in many nation’s armed forces around the world. Being versatile and adapted as specialised vehicles, the M35A1 showed its best usage as an armoured “gun truck” for patrol duties. Simple conversions such as placing an existing light gun mount directly onto the cargo bed of the truck, and securing it in place, proved vital during convoy escorts. More sophisticated conversions were equipped with the M55 Quadmount systems mounting four .50 Cal M2 Browning machine guns.
