The M54A2 , also known as the M39 series truck, is a heavy tactical 5-ton 6×6 truck built for the United States Armed Forces. Designed to transport heavy loads over all terrain, even in adverse weather conditions, the M54A2 saw combat deployment with the  Marines, U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force, and the Army of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN) forces during the Vietnam War.

Proving its versatility as a platform for various conversions, just like its M35A1 predecessor, the M54A2 underwent field modifications with improvised armour, twin, or quad mount .50 calibre M2 machine guns, as well as mounting a complete M113 hull in its cargo bed for patrol duties.
