Description

The T-72M is the downgraded, export version of the T-72A Russian main battle tank. Built in Poland and former Czechoslovakia, as well as the Soviet Union, the T-72M lacked composite armour and was outfitted with a much simpler fire control system. The tank was usually supplied with inferior ammunition, compared to the Soviet army standard.

Manned by a crew of 3, the T-72M is armed with a 125 mm smoothbore gun and was widely exported to various countries. The tank saw extensive combat during the Iran–Iraq War, 2nd Gulf War, and is still in service with the newly rebuilt Iraqi army alongside the various developed and modernised models of the same tank.
