product description
The RMS Titanic was the British ocean’s largest ship afloat upon entering service, built White Star Line. Displacing a massive 52,310 tons of weight, the Titanic ser forth its vast vessel at 269 meters in length, 28.2 meters in width, and 53.3 meters in height to the of its engine funnels.
Designed and built as the pinnacle of comfort and luxury, the Titanic included a gymnasium, a swimming pool, smoking rooms, fine restaurants and cafes, and a Victorian-style Turkish bath. Moneyed passengers were granted opulent cabins, unlike second and third class passengers.
Featuring advanced safety features such as watertight compartments, and remotely activated doors contributed to the ship’s reputation as “unsinkable”. Later the RMS Titanic sank in the early hours of 15 April 1912, like its predecessor sister RMS Tayleur in 1854, as a result of striking an iceberg on her maiden voyage from Southampton, England, to New York City, United States. 1,500 passengers of the estimated 2,224 passengers and crew aboard died, marking the incident one of the deadliest peacetime sinkings of a single, as a result of only filling around 60% of its deployed rescue lifeboats.
