product description
The IDF M51, never officially referred to as the Super Sherman or Isherman, was a modified, up-gunned version of the American WW2 M4 Sherman tank. Serving in action with the Israel Defense Forces, from the mid-1950s to early 1980s, the M-51 saw extensive combat against exported Soviet WW2 tanks as well as advanced modern era tanks used by various Arab armies.
The up-gunned IDF “Super Sherman”, referred to as an obsolete WW2 tank earlier, proved itself beyond its original capabilities fighting Soviet-built heavier tanks, deploying its 105 mm main gun. The Isherman featured the extended upgrades of the WW2 US T23 Sherman turrets to fit the powerful French 105 mm Modèle F1 gun , double-baffle unique muzzle brake, VVSS suspension, and a Cummins diesel engine vs the previous Continental R-975 flammable gasoline engine fit on the regular Sherman.
