The SMK was a heavy tank prototype developed by the Soviet Union prior to the Second World War. The SMK was among the designs, alongside two KV prototypes and two T-100 tanks, to replace the unreliable and expensive T-35 multi-turreted heavy tank. With one tank built briefly used in the war with Finland, highlighting its disadvantageous weight and size, the SMK tank project was dropped in favour of the superior KV-1 and KV-2 designs.
