Description

The Land Rover Defender Wolf is a light militarized version of the civilian Land Rover Defender introduced in 1994. Designated in service as the Defender XD (eXtra Duty) W.M.I.K (Weapons Mount Installation Kit), the vehicle was a variant of the Truck Utility Light (TUL), tasked with both reconnaissance and close fire support roles. The Wolf W.M.I.K was fitted with roll cages for additional protection and weapon mounts typically armed with either a 12.7 mm heavy machine gun, or a 7.62 mm general purpose machine gun (GPMG). The vehicle can also be equipped with the MILAN anti-tank guided missile launcher (ATGM) on a rear ring-mount, with an additional front mounted general purpose machine gun.

Hobby Boss’s 1/35 Defender XD Wolf XD W.M.I.K w/MILAN  consists of six light tan, 1 clear sprue for the front windshield and lights, rubber tires, two PE frets, and a decal sheet. The kit features a fully detailed chassis with a turbo diesel engine, a complete 4×4 drive train assembly with the reinforcement’s arms, transmission, and differential housings. The included rubber tires feature a highly realistic tread pattern. The engine hood can be posed as either open or closed after assembly if the scale modeler chooses to showcase the built engine. Two weapons are included in the kit for the rear mounted MILAN anti-tank guided missile launcher (ATGM) and the passenger’s front 7.62 mm general purpose machine gun. The kit also includes additional stowage such as ammo and fuel cans, a photoetched mesh in addition to combat identification panels (CIP) with use for the desert version.

Two marking options are provided for one vehicle painted in desert sand color during the 2003 Iraq War, and one vehicle painted in Olive Drab.
