Germany’s Tiger I heavy tank was developed by the German armored forces in the months following the invasion on the Soviet Union, and later the North African Campaign. Fitted with an 88mm gun, the Tiger I initial production provided the Deutsches Afrikakorps, DAK with their first heavy tank on the battlefield. The Tiger I later on appeared in almost all front-line battles in Germany. The German Tiger I heavy tank had a strong psychological deterrent effect to many opponents. Its very complicated design, requiring a lot of expensive materials and heavy production facilities, combined with the manufacturing time led to around only 1,347 units built between August 1942 and August 1944.
Ryefield Model‘s 1/35th scale Tiger I Initial production consists of 15 tan plasic sprues, 1 clear for the periscopes and vision ports, 16 dark grey for the workable tracks, 1 PE fret, 1 decal sheet, 1 slide molded lower hull, a length of nylon rope, and a box containing 3D printed parts.
This kit includes a complete interior for both the lower hull and turret. It also features the same excellent level of details seen on previous RFM Tiger I releases with the addition of newly corrected parts for an accurate Tunisian/North African Tiger I initial production. The corrected parts include a newly tooled rear turret stowage bin, updated side and rear fenders, updated Feifel air filters in addition to other various parts. In addition the kit contains highly detailed and delicate 3D printed parts such as the main gun muzzle cover, hull machine gun cover, 1 1/35th scale German Shepherd, and 2 types for the turret’s smoke dischargers.
2 marking option are included in the kit for Tiger 112 belonging to the Schwere Panzerabteilung 503, and tiger 724 belonging to the 7th Panzer Regiment both painted in RLM02 Grey.
