product description
The T-80UM-2 is a Russian, experimental main battle tank (MBT). Mainly based on the regular version T-80 MBT, the T-80UM-2 was modified with the older Drozd-1 protection system. The installed Drozd, Russian for songbird thrush, is an active protection system designed against anti-tank and RPGs for increasing a tank’s battlefield survivability. Created in 1977 and 1978, the Drozd cost around 30,000$ back then for some of the former T-55 medium tanks and one destroyed Russo-Ukrainian War T-80 tank.
Manned by a crew of 3, the 80UM-2 is armed with a 125 mm smoothbore main gun, capable of firing Kobra as well as Refleks anti-tank tank guided missiles (ATGMs). The UM-2 was fit, just as its earlier version with turret as well as Kontakt-5 explosive reactive armour (ERA).
