Sd.Kfz.251/22 w/ 7.5cm PaK 40 “Pakwagen”

The German Sd.Kfz. 251/22 is an armoured personnel half-track carrier manufactured and deployed during World War 2. Based on its late modifications and enhancements, the Sd.Kfz. 251/22 was deployed as a mobile anti-tank vehicle, known as Pakwagen.

The armoured, open roof Pakwagen was fitted with a 75 mm PaK 40 anti-tank gun. Maintaining the predecessor’s half track deployed roles during combat, the Pakwagen provided protection against standard bullets for its AA gun crew, resulting in an overloaded, but effective AA vehicle.

With more than 15,000 half track vehicles deployed during WW2, some captured Pakwagens were deployed by the Yugoslav military during the 1950s.
