Russian Heavy Tank KV-2

The KV-2, Russian KB, was a heavy armoured tank deployed by the Red Army during World War II. Well known for their armour protection during the early stages of the war, the KV tanks were practically immune to the German deployed 3.7cm and 7.5cm short-barreled Panzer III and Panzer IV tanks, except for the 8.8 cm Flak gun.

Based on the originally produced KV-1 chassis, the KV-2 was armed with the M-10 152 mm howitzer to break in enemy strongholds. The new heavier gun required a much higher profile turret resulting in a slower overall speed as well as the turret traverse speed to be only deployed on level ground, resulting in its combat ineffectiveness, low production numbers, and captured units by the German World War II army.

Well known for their roomier turrets, the KV series tanks were later replaced with the economically less expensive T-34 medium tanks, performing better or at least equally well in all particular aspects.
