Description

The Pantsir S-1, NATO code name SA-22 Greyhound, is an air defense missile-gun system designed to protect both vital small as well as big sized military areas, industrial targets, land units as well as reinforced air defense units responsible for the protection of troops and military installations against precision guided air attacks from low and extreme low flying aircraft. The armament of the Pantsir consists of twelve surface to air guided missile, along with two double barreled 30mm automatic guns. The Pantsir S-1 is is equipped with a multi-range radar capable of detecting aerial targets as a distance of more than 30 kilometers.

The first units of the system entered service with the Russian Air force on March 18th 2010.
