M915 Gun Truck

The M915 Gun Truck is an armoured convoy escort vehicle deployed in 2003, Iraq War, by U.S. Forces. Based on the rear drive baseline M915 heavy army trucks, the armed M915 was field modified to fit an M105A1 military trailer hauling a welded fighting compartment to better provide suppressive fire protection. To better steer away ambushes through hostile territories and long roads, the US Army recurred the gun truck concept, which was first seen in the Vietnam War. Later deployments modified various utility and cargo trucks to fulfill the gun truck concept across all conflicts.

The M915’s driving compartment sides were armoured to provide better protection for its crew. Manned by a crew of 3, including the gunner, the M915 Gun Truck featured a cupola mounted fighting compartment with a .50 Cal M2 heavy machine gun, alongside its 5.56mm FN Minimi general purpose machine gun.
