The M551 “Sheridan” AR/AAV (Armored Reconnaissance/Airborne Assault Vehicle) is a light tank developed by the United States. The Sheridan was designed to be deployed by parachute and had the ability to ford and traverse rivers. Armed with a technically advanced but troublesome 152mm gun, the Sheridan was capable of firing both conventional ammunition and the MGM-51 Shillelagh guided anti-tank missile. The M551 Sheridan entered service with the United States Army in 1967, seeing combat in Vietnam at the time, and was later deployed in Europe, Korea, Panama, and Kuwait during operation Desert Storm.

Ryefield Models’ newly released 1/35 M551A1/M551A1 TTS Sheridan consists of 368 parts, with 18 clear parts, 8 soft vinyl parts, and one photo-etched fret. The M551A-1/M551A1 TTS Sheridan highly detailed kit can be built at 2 variants including two different turret side parts, alternative headlight guards, optional turret searchlights, smoke dischargers and two types for the .50 cal machine gun armor. Both the commander’s and driver’s hatches are movable after assembly, along with the commander’s .50 cal cupola. The slide molded upper hull features crisp anti skid, and bolts detailed on all sides. Additional parts for stowage consists of jerry cans and .50 cal ammunition boxes.
