Description

The Oshkosh M1240A1 M-ATV is a Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle developed by the Oshkosh Corporation for the MRAP All Terrain Vehicle (M-ATV) program. Intended to replace the Humvee, which has been in service since 1984, the M1240A1 M-ATV is designed to provide the same level of protection as the larger and heavier previous MRAPs but with improved mobility. Powered by a 7.2 liter inline-6 Caterpillar C7 turbo diesel engine, and weighing at almost 12 tons, the M1240A1 is operated by a crew of four, plus a gunner. The V shaped under carriage and blast resistant seats provide a safe, armored vehicle against IED blasts.

Rye Field Model‘s M1240A1 M-ATV w/M153 CROWS II consists of 8 tan sprues, a slide molded crew cabin and engine hood, 5 rubber tires, and 2 PE frets. The kit features a complete engine block assembly, suspension system and a full interior. The fine, crisp details on the flash free, slide molded, parts require minimal clean up. The brake lines are cast as one fine delicate part with excellent scale. The kit depicts the newly added differences from the previous release equipped with the OGPK turret, such as the M153 CROWS II (Common Remotely Operated Weapon Station) on the crew’s cabin roof, along with the remote control station and controls inside the cabin. Other features resemble the vehicle’s additional antennas and the modified rear spare wheel holder.

The rubber tires feature a highly detailed tread pattern, and the Michelin logo, just like the real vehicle. The kit also includes rubber mud flaps with an imprinted Oshkosh logo.
