Description

The M1025 Humvee, High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV), is an American light, four-wheel drive, military truck and utility vehicle produced by AM General. The Humvee served as the substitute for all roles previously performed by earlier vehicles such as the original jeep, Vietnam War-era M151 jeeps, the M561 “Gama Goat”, in addition to other light trucks.

The Humvee saw widespread deployment during the 1991 Gulf War, and Iraq War. The M1025’s original unarmored design proved to be inadequate, and was vulnerable to improvised explosive devices. As a result, U.S. forces hastily up-armored select models with front-line units being replaced with the MRAP.

Primarily used by the United States military, the M1025 is also used by numerous export countries such as Lebanon.
