M1008 Troop Carrier

The M1008 troop carrier was General Motor’s Commercial Utility Cargo Vehicle (CUCV) deployed by the United States’ armed forces across various battles, in addition to export countries such as Lebanon. Based on a heavy duty civilian truck chassis, the CUCV was manufactured in 4 basic body chassis configurations fulfilling its role on the battlefield: pickup, utility, ambulance body and troop carrier.

With more than 70,000 units produced between 1983 till 1996, all CUCVs were powered by a 6.2 L J-series Detroit Diesel V8 non-emissions engine, to drive its full-time all-wheel drive transmission system mounted on a leaf spring suspension system, with an optional front-mounted winch.
