The LVTP-7 is a fully tracked amphibious landing vehicle introduced in 1972. Initially deployed by the U.S. Marine Corps, the LVTP-7 called amtracs is capable of protecting its crew of 3 in addition to 21 fully equipped soldiers. The amtrac was designed to land a force on hostile beaches and fronts from assault ships, along with their equipment in a single lift.
Armed with a turret mounted 12.7 mm general purpose machine gun, the amtrac saw deployments on various fronts as well as peace keeping forces like the multinational peacekeeping forces, U.S. Marines, in Beirut Lebanon with upgraded LVTPs deployed in afterward conflicts.
