H39 French Light Tank

The Hotchkiss H39 was a French light tank primarily developed prior to World War II. Based on the original H35, French for char léger modèle 35, the upgraded H39 was back then considered as a well-armoured, but slow infantry support tank. As a result the Hotchkiss tanks were deployed by French Cavalry arm as the spear to overcome enemy fortifications and skip trenches with its equipped tail.

The H modifié 39 was improved with a more powerful 120hp engine, and fitted with a longer, more powerful 37 mm gun. With a total production of 1200 Hotchkiss tanks during the early days of World War 2, captured French light tanks were used in several modifications by the German army.
