German LKW 10t MIL GL

The LKW 10t is an armoured, military 8×8 transport truck developed and built by a joint venture between two German companies MAN Truck & Bus AG and Rheinmetall AG.. Combining both their technological core and knowledge with vehicle systems and military/land divisions, the mergers known as Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles GmbH (RMMV) was the sole provider for a wide range of armoured and unarmoured transport vehicles, along with special specific wheeled vehicles.

The LKW 10t MIL GL, standing for heavy, cross country, military goods German short for Lastkraftwagen, militarisiert geländegängig, was a Category 1 (Kat1) high-mobility tactical truck used by the Bundeswehr. The 8×8 10t LKW was equipped with an extended cargo bed along with the Atlas-Weyhausen 1-ton loading crane. Various LKW 10t was also fitted with a self recovery winch for difficult scenarios, as well as hauling heavy cargo up to 10 tons.

The armoured LKWs, deployed across various battlefields as well as Afghanistan, provided ample protection to its driver’s cabin against low caliber fire arms as well as shrapnels. Self defense capabilities, against threats was with its roof mounted turret equipped with an MG 3 general purpose machine gun.
