Description

The Jagdpanther G1 Tank Destroyer, Sd.Kfz. 173, was a highly successful tank destroyer built by Germany during World War II based on the Panther tank chassis. It entered service in 1944 during the later stages of the war on both the Eastern and Western Fronts, with a total of 415 units.  The Jagdpanther combined the formidable 8.8 cm Pak 43 cannon, same of that of the King Tiger II, while benefiting from the armor and suspension of the rigorously tested Panther chassis.

Meng‘s German Jagdpanther G1 Tank destroyer consists of 9 plastic sprues in tan color, 1 transparent sprue, one photoetched sheet, one steel sheet for the side skirts, poly caps, a decal sheet, and two lengths of metal cables.

This highly detailed kit features torch cut marks, and visible weld lines, as well as crisp cast texture on the main gun’s mantlet and machine gun ball. All hatches include details on the inside allowing the choice of open hatches, showcasing the main gun breach which is movable after assembly. Meng’s Jagdpanther G1 can be built either as an early Jagdpanther equipped with a one part barrel along with an early mantlet, or as a later G1 version with a two part barrel and late main gun mantlet.

Four marking options are included in the kit representing vehicles with a three tone camouflage pattern.
