Description

The Fokker Dr.I was a triplane produced by the Fokker company during World War 1 in 1917. Flown by Manfred von Richthofen, the “Red Baron”, the red triplane featured three stacked wings providing more lift than the biplanes and monoplanes at that time, with minimized drag. Armed with two front-mounted Spandau MG 08 air cooled machine guns, Manfred von Richthofen’s Red Fokker Dr.I Triplane’s guns were far better than the adversaries’ planes, dominating the skies during the First World War with 80 confirmed kills.

Meng‘s 1/32 scale Fokker Dr.I Triplane consists of 5 grey and 1 transparent plastic sprues, and 1 PE fret. Two versions of the same kit are available with the Special Limited Edition packed with a 1/10 resin bust of Ace Pilot Manfred von Richthofen. The kit features accurate, ribbed wing structures with a realistic fabric cover. The aircraft’s cockpit and engine feature delicate details, with photoetch seat belts. Two different types of wheels, three engine cowling covers, two tails, and three propellers are included in the kit to replicate one of the four included versions. The Spandau MG 08 machine guns can be further enhanced with the included photo etched cooling jackets.

Four marking options are included in the kit for three World War One Aces, in addition to Manfred von Richthofen’s red triplane, providing plenty of choices for this bird.
