product description

The British Fairey Battle is a light bomber that was designed and manufactured during the mid 1930s for the Royal Air Force (RAF).  Replacing former 1920s biplanes, the monoplane Fairey Battle, aka Battle, was powered by a high-performance Rolls-Royce Merlin piston engine. Manned by a crew of 3, the heavyweight bomb load Battle was considered as a great improvement over the preceded aircrafts, seeing deployed combat during the early operations of World War 2.

Considered much slower with the extra bomb payload weight, the Battle suffered more than 50% of aircraft sorties per mission. The Battle’s hype was withdrawn from the front-line service and demoted to target-tug role and training unit pilots overseas.
