Description

The IAF F-15I Ra’am (Thunder) is a special version of the F-15E Strike Eagle that was designed specifically for the Israeli Air Force by McDonald Douglas, equipped with many self designed special instruments. The F-15I’s tremendous payload capacity, combined with its advanced systems, enables it to carry out along range, heavy load  attacks 24 hours a day and in any weather condition.

Great Wall Hobby‘s 1/48 scale F-15I Ra’am consists of 30 grey plastic sprues, 1 slide moulded fuselage, and 1 PE frets. The finely reproduced kit features fine, crisp panel lines on the wings, fuselage, and control surfaces. The slide moulded lower fuselage features crisp landing gear bay details. The one part cast wings, and upper surface feature a detailed air brake assembly. The fuselage’s sides can be displayed with both panels open revealing the electronics’ bay. All specific F-15E parts such as the the conformal fuel tanks on the sides of the body, weapons’ mounting points,  and the reinforced landing gear are accurately depicted. The kit also includes 2 complete Pratt & Whitney F100 engines in the fuselage.

The kit comes with a complete load out of weapons such as the AN/AAQ-13 navigation pod, AN/AAQ-33 sniper sighting pod, AIM-9L/M Sidewinder, AIM-120C AMRAAM, pylon mounted GBU-39 guided bombs, and two external 610 gallon fuel tanks. The kit features a very high level of detail; crisp and finely recessed panel lines; full engine detail; three sets of slide moulded one-piece missiles, with the optional position for the control surfaces, speed brake and undercarriage.

Weapons included in Great Wal Hobby’s 1/48 F-15I Ra’am include 2 610 Gallon Fuel Tanks, 1 AXQ-14 data link pod, 1 AAQ-13 Lantirn Navigation Pod, 1 AAQ-14 Lantirn Targeting Pod, GBU-12 Laser guided Paveway II 500lb bombs, GBU-38 Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) Mk 82, GBU-31 Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) Mk 84, 1 AGM-130 GPS 2000lb bomb, 1 AGM-142 Popeye bomb, 2 slide moulded Python 4 Air to Air missile, and 2 AIM-120B AMRAAM Air to Air missiles.

2 marking options are provided in the kit for 1 F-15I unit number 201 of 601st Squadron “Test and Evaluation Squadron” of the Israeli Air Force, with the typical desert scheme and for a 1 Boeing F-15I of unit number 69 in the “Hammers” Squadron of the Israeli Air Force.
