Description

The BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) is the newest member of the Russian BMP infantry fighting vehicle family, following both the BMP-1 and BMP-2. It can carry up to seven fully equipped personnel in its rear compartment. Both the upper as well as the rear contain hatches for the mounting and dismounting of armed troops into and from the vehicle. Production of the the BMP-3 began in the late 1980s, while seeing action with the Russian Army during the First Chechen War. Still in service with the Russian Army, more than 600 vehicles were exported to other operating countries, including the United Arab Emirates, Cyprus, Kuwait, and South Korea.
