Black Eagle Tank Object 640

The Black Eagle tank, Object 640, was an upgraded prototype T-80U main battle tank. Developed during the 1980s, the Object 640, featured a stretched T-80U equipped with a mock-up large turret during an arms exposition. Featuring an extra pair of road wheels allowed the tank to abandon the traditional carousel-style autoloader replaced in the turret’s new box-shaped turret. The replacement tradition of the previous Soviet domed shape of the turret incorporated a safe blow-out of ammunition just like the U.S M1 Abrams.

Primarily designed to be armed with a 125 mm tank gun, the Black Eagle was also designed to accommodate an upgunned 152 mm gun, in addition to the Drozd hard-kill active protection system.

The Black Eagle was cancelled, development halted in 2009, while the designing company went bankrupt.
